    • Allow the respondent to skip the question. To do this, turn off the Required option (by default, all questions are required).

    For more information, see How to set up an interactive survey.

  5. If the question is multiple-choice, add multiple response options. Here are some tips:

    • Enable Shuffle answers when their order is unimportant. As people choose the first and last options more often, this option lets you get more honest responses.

    • Use the options Not sure, None of the above, and Other if you haven't added every possible answer. If the respondent can't find a suitable option, they may choose one of these rather than respond at random.

    • If you have a lot of answer options, use the Upload a list of options option. Thus, you can easily store all answers in the Word format and quickly add a updated list, if needed.

      There are some restrictions while choosing the option:

      • When uploading answers the list of previously created answers is canceled.

      • Empty rows and spaces in the start and in the end of the row are deleted.

      • Each new answer should be added with a new line.

      • If the first answer in the list starts from a number, bracket and space sequentially (for example, “1) answer”), the default separator of answers is this combination of symbols and a new row.

        This combination of symbols won't be shown to respondents, they will see only the text of the answer. Therefore, the order of numbers or their repeat are not important.

      • Separators such as a number, dot and space sequentially (for example, “1. answer”) or a letter, bracket and space sequentially (for example, “a) answer”) will be recognized as a text.

Set up the display criteria

  1. Set the page display criteria.

    You can set up the display logic for the second and subsequent pages in the survey. For example, display a page only to users who have answered questions on the previous page.

  2. Set up the question display criteria.

    You can set up the display logic for the second and subsequent questions. The user will see these questions only if they responded or gave a definite response to the previous questions.

    For example, let's say the first question is “Do you like our restaurant?”. If the user responds “Yes”, you can ask “What exactly do you like about it?”. If they answer “No”, you can ask “What should we work on?”.

  3. Set up the display criteria of rows and columns in the table.

    You can set up the display logic for every row and every column separately. The row or column will be shown only if the display conditions are met. If you set the condition that hides all rows and columns, the answer won't be shown.

To set a criteria, click Configure logic. For more information, see Setting up display criteria.

Turn on the shuffle of pages

You can turn on the shuffle of pages in the Survey actionsOrder of pages and questions section. To do this, click Shuffle pages and choose pages that you want to rotate.

To shuffle pages, group them. Pages inside the group don't shuffle. You can group only pages that are in order.

For example, let's say you added 7 pages and want to shuffle pages 1 with 2 and 5 with 6 separately from other pages, create two groups [1, 2] and [5, 6]. In this case, other pages won't be shuffled.

Pages of the group are marked with one color.

You can edit the group: to do this, click on it. Also you can delete the group: to do this, click .

Step 3. Set up the labels

Note

You can set up the labels only in the desktop version of Yandex Surveys. This option is unavailable in the mobile version.

The labels are variables that you can assign to questions in the Survey Builder. The specified labels are displayed in the question block and in the statistics. You can set up the same labels in different surveys. It will allow you to combine different questionnaires and work with the unified statistics. The labels help you structure data and simplify the analysis.

To set up the labels go to the Survey actionsLabel settings.

You can specify the labels to questions. Also you can edit the labels and specify them new values.

Requirements for the name

Yandex Surveys makes the following requirements for the name of the labels:

  • The maximun length is — 32 symbols.

  • The name begins with a letter and ends with a number of a letter.

  • The name can contain numbers, Latin letters, symbols _ and .;

  • The name contains no spaces.

  • The name is unique for every question.

The reserved words that you can't use as names for the labels: ALL, AND, BY, EQ, GE, GT, LE, LT, NE, NOT, OR, TO and WITH.

To find the label, question on the text, or ID enter the desired value into the search bar.

When copying the survey — the labels are copied too.

You can download the labels in SPSS and Excel formats.

Examples of using the labels
Example 1

You're taking a survey to find out a person's food preferences. You collect the following data:

  • The respondent's age.

  • The respondent's gender.

  • The favorite cuisine (for example, Italian or Japanese).

  • The frequency of respondent's eats out per week.

When you specify the data in the database, also specify the label for every column for convenience. It helps you make an analysis more convinient. You can specify the labels шт this way:

  • The respondent's age → Age;

  • The respondent's gender → Gender;

  • The favorite cuisine → FavoriteCuisine;

  • The frequency of respondent's eats out per week → EatOutPerWeek.

Names of the variables give a clearly understanding about data that every column contains. Instead of Q1, Q2, Q3you immediately see Age, Gender that simplifies the work.

Also when performing statistical operations or building charts you can use meaningful names instead of Q1, Q2, Q3.

Example 2

If you have a few similar questionnaires, for example, in different languages, the labels help you bring data from several surveys into one database. It simplifies results management.

Step 4. Select the audience

Warning

If you turned on the Screening questions option, you can only choose the audience that is specified in the screening questions settings. In the final sample will appear the respondents who are suitable by chosen settings conditions and screenouts are excluded from the total sample size.
